The land that 18th century European adventurers decided to call 'New Zealand', had for centuries already been, and remains to this day, the colourful and richly textured ancestral home of the Maori people, a home which they long ago named 'Aoatearoa', or, 'the Land of the Long White Cloud'. This name undoubtedly derived from the first glimpse of its landmass on the horizon as seen by ancient Polynesian explorers who had arrived by ocean-going canoe from Pacific islands further north, at the dawn of time. These were the peoples who were to evolve into the Maori nation, proud possessors of one of the most distinctive historic, artistic and musical cultures to be found anywhere in the world.
How would you like to savour the delights of the beautiful late Springtime in Paris as a thank you to and tribute to the memory of the great Louis Braille, who was born two hundred years ago. Traveleyes is in the process of assessing potential customer interest among both visually impaired and sighted travellers in a planned 4-day celebratory 'short break' to Paris. This will take place in May-June 2009 to mark the bicentenary of the birth of Louis Braille. The trip is a celebration of Paris and all that it has to offer both the blind and the sighted visitor, as a demonstration of sincere thanks for the legacy of communication and access that Louis Braille bequeathed to all who have both a visual impairment and a hankering to travel. The plan therefore, is to pay visits to one or two actual sites of significance to Louis's life, and then, to spend the majority of the four days exploring the delights of Paris.

We invite you to join Traveleyes on a journey to the sun-drenched heart of a unique Sicilian cultural heritage.
Sicily has been a strategic location for centuries, due to its vital position as a ‘crossroads’ of Mediterranean trading routes. Its history has been a complex tapestry of successive invasions, producing a cultural fusion of Greek, Roman, Arab and even Norman heritage. Important archaeological sites include the Necropolis of Pantalica, home to 5,000 tombs dating back as far as the 13th century BC, and the beautiful Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, with its seemingly endless fields, orchards and woodlands. Sicily is also home to Europe’s largest active volcano, Mount Etna, which dominates the skyline to the eastern side of the island. This picturesque mountain was for centuries known by its Arabic name, Jebel Utlamat - which means ‘The Mountain of Fire’. When you add to these scenic and cultural gems the extra attraction of some of Italy’s best beaches, you begin to understand why Sicily’s special charms have woven their magic over the centuries and brought countless visitors back, time and time again to renew the experience. Wonderful hospitality and culinary specialties abound, and no meal is complete without the sampling of some of Europe’s finest wines and the world famous ice cream creations from countless ‘gelateri Siciliani’.
